Background and Purpose: Patients with high-level spinal cord injuries (SCI) are being seen more frequently in physical therapy practice. The literature describing treatment for this patient population is incomplete and may not reflect current practice. The purpose of this case report is to describe the multidisciplinary management in the intensive care unit for a patient with an incomplete high-level spinal SCI. The Guide to Physical Therapist Practice is used as the framework to high-light the physical therapist's role. Case Description: The patient was a 21-year-old man involved in a motor vehicle accident. He sustained a C2 fracture, which resulted in tetraplegia. The examination, evaluation, prognosis, and outcomes selection as well as the plan of care are described.
