Democratic societies are characterised by political decision-making procedures in which all members of the electorate have an equal chance to influence the framework for future policies by voting. However, a vast majority of the electorate is irrational or ignorant about political issues, political stances of political parties and politicians, and the consequences of political interventions. Therefore, it is hypothesised that there is a relation between political irrationality or political ignorance and political failures. The present study aims to answer the question whether it is possible to improve the quality of political decisions in a manner that does not decrease equality between members of society to an extent that is unfair.
