A risk management of thyroid and parathyroid surgery

TL;DRAbstract

Introduction and objective: Research on patient safety in thyroid and parathyroid surgery should be directed toward risk management. The risk management system should detect hazards and prevent the occurrence of failures, detect faults before they cause or minimize its effect through preventive or corrective actions. The aim of this paper is to propose a useful model for risk management in thyroid and parathyroid surgery. Method: Narrative review. Results: A risk management system is presented.<br>Conclusions: The security system for risk management in thyroid and parathyroid surgery is based on the identification of the process steps, in the multidisciplinary work of all agents involved, in the identification of potential failures and preventive measures, in the establishment of a system of reporting incidents, the analysis of incidents and the adoption of immediate corrective action.
