TL;DRAbstract
This study investigates NiO-promoted Pt/C and Pd/C for electrooxidation reactions ethylene glycol (EG) in alkaline media. The results show that Pd/C electrocatalysts alone have lower activity than Pt/C, however shows better poisoning-resistance than Pt/C for the electrooxidation reaction of EG. Addition of NiO significantly promotes catalytic activity and poisoning-resistance of the Pt/C and Pd/C electrocatlayts for the EG electrooxidation. The Pd-NiO (4:1 by weight)/C gives better performance than Pt/C for EG oxidation in alkaline media.
