Cyclist’s route choice and the effects road features have on cyclists

TL;DRAbstract

With the aim to determine how far out of their route a cyclist is willing to go to avoid disliked road features, this paper looks to assess current cyclists’ route choice through a revealed preference survey. Predominantly focusing on students and commuters, this paper will look at what cyclists see as the biggest deterrents to cycling and what road features they try to avoid. This paper uses cyclists’ perceived safety to determine how safe they feel cycling amongst motor vehicles.
