TL;DRAbstract

There is a lot of barren land in Indonesia which is not seriously managed, either by goverment or society, specially farmers. The barren land may cause many problems, both on site and downstream particularly those related to erosion and sediment. Un any measures to land conservation by farmers is expected, so that land erosion can be controlled. Land conservation may highly reduce surface run off and soil erosion as well. Guludan, one of the mechanical land conservation method, which is already practiced by Indonesian farmers since long time ago, able to reduce run off and soil erosion. However, the effektiveness of guludan in controlling soil erosion so far is unknown. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the effektiveness of guludan. The study was carried out by constructing damplot on field located in Sambiroto-Tembalang-Semarang. Six damplot of 22x1,80 m2 were constructed on sloping land slope of 8,49° .
