JOSIAH BUNTING'S CORRESPONDENCE9 ANNOTATIONS ON THE CORRESPONDENCE OF JOSIAH BUNTING, 1734-1813 By Martha Bunting JOSIAH BUNTING, son of Samuel and Sarah (Fearne) Bunting, was born 9th month 19, 1734, and died 9th month 4, 1813; he married Sarah Hunt (1739-1791), daughter of John and Elizabeth Sellers Hunt, 4th month 17, 1760, at a meeting appointed by Darby Monthly Meeting and recorded in its records. In his father's house he met many eminent members of the Society of Friends, since we learn from their journals that they stopped there when traveling on religious services. Josiah Bunting rendered civil service to the Township of Darby and important religious service to Darby Monthly Meeting of Friends; in the latter he served on important committees, and was active as overseer, elder, treasurer, and preacher.
