LIU Xi-Cheng's ”An Academic History of the 20th Century Chinese Folk Literature” is the first academic monograph for the history of Chinese Folk Literature. The book analyzes the academic course of Chinese folk literature in the past 100 years by full and accurate historical documents and impartial academic knowledge, reassesses the value of some historical materials. A large number of precious academic records were published for the first time, presenting and assessing a lot of unknown scholars and academic achievements. The monograph fills the gaps of research into the academic history of the 20th century folklore literature, lays a solid foundation for the whole of the Chinese folk literature construction in the academic history, changes the development of folklore imbalance in the status quo, contributes its share to all-round and balanced disciplinary development.
