C-SPECT/CT-2: Design concepts and performance potential

6

TL;DRAbstract

495 Objectives: Since we presented a platform, C-SPECT/CT (formerly called MarC-SPECT), for cardiac imaging 2 years ago, we have advanced it to a 2nd-generation design that has further improved performance potential. Methods: The C-SPECT platform is based on a large stationary C-shaped detector and collimator assembly, which surrounds a patient sitting upright on a smart-chair. After a scout imaging, the smart-chair moves the patient’s heart to a predetermined imaging volume (PIV), which allows a large number of emission projections to be acquired simultaneously. The collimator system uses slit-slat design: a multi-slit plate sits in front of a stack of slats. Each of the (>12) slits, oriented axially and orthogonal to the slats, casts a non-overlapping projection of the PIV on the detector. The geometric efficiency (GE) of the previous design was estimated to be more than double that of conventional dual-head SPECT systems. This 2nd-generation design replaces the parallel slats with c
