TL;DRAbstract
Very high spatial resolution images with the Faint Object Camera on the Hubble Space Telescope in visible (F 372 M and F 501 N filters centered on [O II] λ3727 and [O III] 5007 A) and ultraviolet light (F 120 M centered on λ1230 A) provide a unique system R Aquarii. Using these and other observations spanning the electromagnetic spectrum from X-ray to radio wavelengths, a new model of R Aqr is proposed in which the binary system is composed of a M7 Mira plus a hot stellar source in an intermediate phase between a subdwarf and a white dwarf
