Unilateral Pulmonary Edema (Down Lung Syndrome) Following Urological Operation

Frederick J. Snoy,Jeffrey R. Woodside-1984-10-01-The Journal of Urology

TL;DRAbstract

We present 2 cases of unilateral pulmonary edema. The physiology of pulmonary ventilation and perfusion in relation to positioning for a urological operation is discussed. The lateral decubitus position can compromise down lung mechanics and result in unilateral pulmonary edema in situations when volume overload exists.
