TL;DRAbstract

The aim of this research was to evaluate the availability and carrying capacity of crop
\nresidues as beef cattle feed resources in Pinrang. The research was to analyze the population
\nof beef cattle in Pinrang district, population number and structure were analyzed based on
\nanimal unit and animal concentration index. The next step was production estimation of crop
\nresidues based on large of harvest area of crop and carrying capacity of crop residue as feed
\nresources of beef cattle. The result of this research showed that the number of crop residues
\nproduction in Pinrang district were 587.874 ton of dry matter. Based on feed concentration
\nindex, the region with high crop residues production were Mattiro Sompe, Mattiro Bulu,
\nWatang Sawitto, Tiroang, Patampanua, Cempa, and Duampanua, respectively. Crop residues
\ncould provide feed resources for beef cattle based on carrying capacity as much as 257.839
\nAU.
