In the North - Eastern Region, rice

\nand is cultivated in hill terraces and
\nvalleys, Many paddy fields in this
\nregion remain flooded almost throughout
\nthe, year because of the charactristic
\nhigh rain fall encountered, Further,
\ndue to the constant water stagnation
\n,many paddy fields have also become
\nswampy in the lowlying valley areas
