The knowledge composition of Australian employment: a long term analysis?
TL;DRAbstract
This paper analyses the knowledge intensity of work in different types of employment in Australia and its possible application to the Argentine context. O*NET measures of knowledge and Australian employment data are used to investigate changes to: (a) the requirements of Australian occupations in terms of knowledge intensities; (b) changes to the composition of employment for men and women; and (c) changes to the knowledge requirement of Australian occupations over the same period. The paper concludes that it appears that employment creation in Australia over the last 35 years has favoured occupations that require higher levels of knowledge intensity.
