Multilevel Defense Model to Secure Large Organization Using Effective Network Management Strategy and Honeypots

Technological advances gave phenomenal growth to the implementation of 24 × 7 network convergence technologies, internet and its application in any organization be it government, academia, enterprise or personal finances. There is a need to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data, network assets and services from associated vulnerabilities and threats. This paper aims at proposing a secure, reliable network infrastructure model which is critical to support growth, enable efficient operations and improve effective communication with customer, and partners. The proposed multilevel defense model is based on best practices, strategies, security policies cut out in accordance to the individual need of the organization. The effective management of network elements such as routers, firewalls, the placement of the firewalls, use of protocols and their monitoring through SNMP protocol can proactively detect any malicious activities or intrusion and can warn the system.
