The Renaissance of Portsmouth Harbour Project was a large scale urban regeneration project funded by the Millennium Commission, aiming to unite the waterfronts of Portsmouth and Gosport and become a ‘world class leisure and maritime heritage destination’ (Portsmouth City Council, 1999). Ten years on, has the project been successful? \n \nThe aim of this dissertation was to investigate the techniques utilised to measure the impact and success of large scale urban regeneration projects, such as the renaissance of Portsmouth Harbour. An interview with Gosport Borough Council and email correspondence with Portsmouth City Council concluded that a number of individual assessments have been carried out, however no concise evaluation of this regeneration project has been undertaken subsequent to its completion. \n \nA questionnaire survey was then sent to thirty five respondents from differing professional bodies around the UK, to obtain an understanding of what impact assessme
