TL;DRAbstract

An investigation into and analysis of, the explosion of the wedding industry and the effects it has on the contemporary bride with a focus on consumerism and the popular wedding culture in Britain. Moreover, there is exploration of the influences, the reasons for, and why it has endured and increased while marriages have been declining. There is also an analysis of the modern 'super-bride' in an effort to answer the question of whether the wedding and notably the wedding dress is portrayed as a fashion statement in contemporary Western society.
