The enthalpy and specific heat of potassium from 0 to 1150 deg C and its heat of fusion at 63.2 deg C were determined by data obtained with a Bunsen ice calorimeter. The potassium was contained in Nb-- 1Zr capsules for the measurements. Measured enthalpy values were corrected for the effect of potassium vapor above the liquid and for slight external oxidation of the capsules. The equations obtained for specific heats of potassium were C/sub s/ (solid) = 0.1705 + 0.4190 x 10/sup -3/ t(0 to 63.2 C) and C/sub s/ (liquid) = 0.2004-- 0.8777 x 10/sup -4/ t + 1.0970 x 10/sup -7/ t/sup 2/(63.2 to 1150 C), where C/sub s/ = ca l g/sup -1/ C/sup -1/ and t = temperature, C.
