TL;DRAbstract

THESE real-life situations demonstrate both the exploitation to which the mentally ill are subjected and their helplessness. They also show that the ascription of insanity is easy to acquire, but difficult to shake off. They further bring home to us that the insane form a minority group of our society which anyone of us may be forced to join by circumstance or people. Once dubbed mentally ill, the insane are often rendered unfit to fight for their human rights and dignity, and it is a responsibility which we shirk. To fight for a recognition of the human dignity of the mentally ill is not just a fight for these deprived members but a crusade for all humans.
