The present study’s main objective is to analyze the influence that class management has over the teaching-learning process and why positive discipline can be used as an effective strategy in order to achieve self-regulation from students. A literary revision of topics was conducted, related to child development and how this can be an influence in discipline; classroom management importance, bad behavior reasons and how to prevent it. The main issue to be taken into consideration is the fact that teachers have to have some knowledge of classroom management strategies, as well as have the ability to apply this knowledge according to the circumstances presented in the classroom environment, by sticking to the perspective of positive discipline presented by Nielsen (2002). Problems in conduct interrupt the teaching-learning process and are mainly due to class mismanagement because of inefficient strategies. This is manifested when discipline is seen as punitive or as a punishment relate
