A WEARABLE SENSOR SUITE AND MOBILE APPLICATION FOR PARKINSON'S DISEASE TREMOR ANALYSIS IN RURAL AREAS

TL;DRAbstract

Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects approximately 7 to 10 million people worldwide. Patients who suffer from PD usually attend regular visits with a neurologist or PD specialist. However, patients may not receive enough one-on-one time with the physician during a visit. Due to this, the patient's severity may be inaccurately measured. The accuracy in identifying the patients PD severity is essential to adequately prescribing appropriate medication and in providing a better quality of care. Using telehealth to measure patient tremors and correlate that data with the patient's ON and OFF states of medication can further assist physicians with providing better medical treatment for their patients. This paper presents an Android application that connects via Bluetooth to sensors to measure patient movement, and record medication taken. The collected tremor data is then sent to a server to graphically be displayed on a web interface and be analyzed by a phy
