TL;DRAbstract

Background : The incidence of typhoid fever in Indonesia is still high. One of people way to solve this problem is using traditional medicine. Phaleria macrocarpa as the traditional medicine contains agents such as saponin and flavanoid that believed have immunomodulator effect. This study can be expected to reduce the number of Salmonella typhimurium colony in the infected organ. Spleen is chosen in this study because spleen is one of reticuloendothelial organ which can be the site of Salmonella typhimurium growth. Objective : To find out the effect of Phaleria macrocarpa on the number Salmonella typhimurium colony in the Balb/c mice’s spleen infected by Salmonella typhimurium. Method : This was laboratorial experiment study using Post Test-Only Control Group Design. The sample were spleen tisues from 20 female Balb/c mice, 6-8 weeks old, 20-25 gram body weight and divided into four groups which are one control group and three treatment groups.
