TL;DRAbstract

The Brazilian population is progressively growing old and this fact has induced na impact in several social segments, including to those health related. Thus, to know the oral health conditions of this elderly population and of that which is in the process of aging become considerable. The aims of this study were to verify the oral health conditions as dental caries prevalence; use and need of total prosthesis; number of present and sound teeth; as well as the edentulism in these populations. These data were collected through the clinical examination according to WHO (World Health Organization) criteria. Subjective data were collected too, in relation to oral health self-perception applying GOHAI index (Geriatric Oral Health Assessment Index).
