Today the architectural culture is dealing with the question of the habitation not just as a new urban construction, but also as reorganization of the existing city. The paper explain the researching project for the realization of a sustainable block, located in the historic city of Piacenza (near intramural area), in which is possible found a strong urban will of the architectural project. The identified area is configured as a urban void near the ancient walls, historically characterized by the presence of urban gardens, and linked at the main square by the parallel axes at the decumanus. The project uses in a newest way historical analysis to recover the identity of the place and the specificity of its pre-existing environmental, trying to reestablish a more contemporary relationship between the historical urban centre and the intramural district, which over time has been lost.
