TL;DRAbstract

A powertrain system for an urban electric ve- hicle is described. The presented system consists of a hybrid energy storage composed of batteries and ultracapacitors, and two in-wheel outer-rotor motors placed inside wheels controlled by three-level inverters. An electronic differential algorithms for two-motor propulsion, and a fuzzy logic based power manage- ment strategy for the hybrid energy storage are presented in de- tail. Simulation studies of proposed control structure have been performed then verified using a non-mobile experimental setup.
