TL;DRAbstract

In 2004 Poland joined the European Union. It was preceded by a number of modifications, which had to adapt polish economy to European economic space. This situation caused a lot of changes, among others changes in insurance legislation. The work presents insurance sector results, based on Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Commission information, a year after joining European Union. Analysis made in this work proved that gross premium income in 2004 had grown over 11 percent. Despite rather optimistic rates of this sector, we cannot state that Polish insurance market is mature
