TL;DRAbstract

This final thesis on bachelor’s level has been written within the research project From Waste to Gold led by the research institute Swerea IVF. From Waste to Gold aims to minimize waste in three different industries, including the textile industry. This paper aim to identify and reduce production waste. A case study on Swegmark of Sweden AB's sewing factory Sia Rosme has been carried out and environmental value stream mapping was performed. The environmental value stream mapping showed that several processes in the production are critical when it comes to generation of waste. To prevent spillage of fabric, focus should primarily be on verifying purchasing fabric, inspection of fabric, lay planning and spreading. Based on the case study the physical waste is indentified to arise from the cutting of fabric, cutting of lace, moulding of the bra cups and from the residual material kept on stock. According to today's way of measuring the waste, indirect through the marker utilization, it is
