TL;DRAbstract

The article deals with the history and etymology of two loanwords in Polish, namely kartacz and kartusz. The semantics of both words through centuries in Polish is discussed and donor languages as sources of borrowings are indicated. The history of both words in particular donor languages is also presented there. In conclusion, the common etymon for both words being the Latin c(h)arta is shown.
