TL;DRAbstract
This report attempts to provide an initial scoping of key practice issues and to begin the process of developing an evidence base. Following an initial mapping of methods, systems and processes, a number of case studies were undertaken. The objectives were to identify: the experiences and perceptions of staff and children in SCHs, and external stakeholders, about the use of restrictive physical intervention in general, and in relation to their local arrangements; evidence about the way systems and processes operate in practice; and key dilemmas and issues that will inform the development of best practice.
