Vibro-acoustic response prediction of uncertain structures with mixed type of probabilistic and non-probabilistic uncertainty descriptions
TL;DRAbstract
The response of engineering structures is often sensitive to uncertainty in the system properties. Building a reliable mathematical which accounts for these uncertainties is not always straightforward given that the available information on the random parameters may be incomplete, vague, limited to experts' opinion, based on previous knowledge, or a combination of some of those. There have been recent advances in building mathematical models of built-up structures where some structural components with a high uncertainty level are modelled by using a non-parametric probabilistic uncertainty model, while other uncertain components are modelled by using a parametric model of uncertainty, which can be either probabilistic or non-probabilistic. However, the available information on the random parameters may lead to a simultaneous use of parametric probabilistic and non-probabilistic approaches in combination with a non-parametric probabilistic approach, in order to fully account for the sys
