TL;DRAbstract
Background : Perennial allergic rhinitis (PAR) as a chronic disease the symptoms may impair patients quality of life (QOL), therefore clinical assessment of treatment result based on both symptoms and patient's QOL improvement. Ob ective : To compare the effectiveness of Chlorpheniramine maleat (CTM) and Loratadine (Alloris) for treating PAR based on clinical symptoms and patient's point-of-view assessment using the quality of life questionnaire (QOLQ). Study design : Randomized double blind clinical trial Methods : PAR patients, 15 - 55 years old, who fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria, assesed their QOL before and after taking the pills for 7 days using the QOLQ that contains 6 domains. They were randomly allocated into two groups of treatment CTM (2 x 4 mg) and Loratadine (1 x 10 mg). Clinical symptoms was assessed by 4L point scale. T - test was used for comparing mean of QOL score ( total and each domain) and total clinical symptoms score. Results : 63 PAR cases, 3
