Based on the quantitative analysis of corpus, this paper studies the high-frequency monosyllable adjective xiao (小), and distinguishes the gradation and non-gradation of adjective meaning-item, and then makes a description and interpretation of the selective relation of combination of monosyllable adjectives and nouns from the perspective of semantics.
