Production of valuable compounds from marine resources: IIM-CSIC has developed some procedures: for extraction of chitin/chitosan from discarded crustaceans, for production of chondroitin sulfate from shark cartilage and for extraction of collagen from fish skin. Potentiality of collagen hydrolysates for biomedical and dermatological applications:IIM-CSIC produced collagen hydrolysates in different conditions and has evaluated their effect on mRNA level expression of human dermal fibroblast in stimulating the synthesis of collagen. 4.
