TL;DRAbstract
this article, we shall first introduce algorithm visualization, and describe one algorithm visualization system (Naps & Hundhausen, 1991) in particular. We shall then identify the (tacit) assumptions that have undergirded its development and advancement, and subject those assumptions to the scrutiny of the research and theories of cognitive science. Finally, we shall suggest some ways in which algorithm visualization might be more effectively utilized, and we shall identify some directions for future cognitive and computer research in this area. 1
