Objective To investigate the relationship between IL-1B and TNF-α gene polymorphisms and susceptibilities to gastric ulcer and cancer. Methods The IL-1B-511, TNF-4-308 and TNF-A-857 gene polymorphisms of 39 patients with gastric ulcer and 35 patients with gastric cancer, both were positive for H. pylorl were analyzed by PCR-RFLP, using those of 70 healthy persons as control. Results The frequency distribution of various IL-1B-511 genotypes showed no significant difference in the patients and healthy persons. However, the frequency distribution of various TNF-A-308 and TNF-A-857 genotypes in the patients with gastric ulcer as well as that of TNF-A-308 genotypes in patients with gastric cancer showed significant difference with those in health) persons.
