TL;DRAbstract

This resettlement action plan for the Philippines Private Sector Development Project will provide Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (MWSI) with an overall framework to undertake a social impact assessment and a land acquisition assessment in stages of the project where private properties and informal settlements are affected. These assessments will gauge the types, degree, and scale of the impacts of the project. Particular attention will be given to adverse impacts to the affected families and communities, such as loss of land and other fixed assets, loss of income sources, and loss of livelihood. Whenever possible, appropriate modifications to the project will be made in order to avoid or minimize adverse impacts. However, if impacts are inevitable, pertinent mitigating measures will be adopted and applied, after consultations with the community.
