Effect of the part of binders modified with SBS elastomer on frost resistance of aged mineral-asphalt blends
TL;DRAbstract
The results of investigations of frost resistance (the values of frost resistance coefficient ?Ez based on stiffness modulus measurements) of various mineral-asphalt blends with unmodified binders and modified ones, especially with SBS elastomer, were presented. The blends were subjected to short- and long-term ageing, technological and operation ones, respectively (Fig. 1-3). It was shown that ageing affects frost resistance of the mineral-asphalt blends. This feature depends also on the type of binder, type and amount of the modifier used, mineral aggregate type and content of voids in the blend. The blends modified with 7% of elastomer appeared to be most resistant. A close correlation among rheological properties of modified binders and ageing resistance and frost resistance of mineral-asphalt blends (Tables 1-3) has been proved.
