Introduction Discussion forums have a potential to play an important role in the fight against among young people, particularly in relating information and promoting communication on issues related to the disease. Lack of open communication on issues has been identified as one of the major obstacles in the fight against the disease, as Essomeonu (2005), states: prevention efforts have been plagued, above all by silence, resulting from the stigma associated with the (n.p.). It has been over two decades since the first case of HIV was reported; however, there is still a lot of stigma surrounding the disease. When HIV/ AIDS first started, there were powerful metaphors built around it which produced discrimination against it. These in turn led to silence on the disease with people getting infected and suffering without coming out in the open to discuss their problems.
