Influencia de polimorfismos geneticos sobre a perda precoce de implantes dentais endoosseos

TL;DRAbstract

Early implant failure occurs before prosthesis placement. There is no establishment of osseointegration, but the formation of a fibrous tissue around implant. In some situations, clinical factors alone do not explain why some patients develop this kind of loss, suggesting an impaired healing ability. The aim of this retrospective study was to investigate the relationship between early implant failure and functional polymorphisms of the IL-1, IL-6 and TNF-α genes.Six genetic polymorphisms were analyzed in 25 patients that suffered one or more early implant failures (test group) and in 32 individuals with one or more healthy implants in function for at least one year (control group). The following polymorphisms were analyzed: IL-1A (C-889T), IL-1B (C-511T), IL-1B (C+3953T), IL-1RN VNTR (intron 2), IL-6 (G-174C) and TNF-A (G-308A).The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to amplify the genomic DNA from oral mucosa cells and the restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) to identify t
