Interaction of Dextran Sulfates with Positively Charged Substances

TL;DRAbstract

Low-molecular-weight dextran sulfates readily interact, in aqueous solutions at room temperature, with positively charged substances such as toluidine blue, bovine albumin, and sodium chloride to form a complex. The interaction belongs to a reversible semipolar (or ionic) bond reaction. It is suggested that the dextran sulfates possess a cation-exchange behavior.
