TL;DRAbstract

Recognizing much Irrationality in Chinese Internet, we think web Rationality plays a fundamental role when discussing the impact of Internet on Chinese civil society. Through observation and survey, we find that ”CJDBY” BBS demonstrates relatively high rationality: objectivity, openness or pluralism, anti-rumor and moderate position in online public discussion. Its rationality mechanism based on educated members, scientific ethos and strict regulation. We argue that web rationality is a multi-dimension construct, its socialization process and possibilities expanding to big virtual community and offline action remain unknown.
