Mathematical model is constructed for the multi-user TH-UWB system, aiming to analyze the effects of multiple access interference (MAI) on the performance of such a system. BER performance is derived according to the theory that MAI is Gaussian with a large number of users. Besides, the upper bound is given using mathematical expression. Simulation results show that the theoretical BER formula corresponds well with the experimental ones. The effect of power control on the system under different ultra wideband (UWB) channel is also studied through simulation, showing that imperfect power control will lead to the decrease in system data rate, and that performance in line of sight (LOS) channel often outdoes that in the NLOS channels.
