TL;DRAbstract

This research aims at identizying, discussing and understanding the possible articulations between leisure, gender and football. For this purpose we have made a short tour through the social history of female football in Brazil, we've analyzed how the social roles put to women are built relating this to the inclusion /exclusion space on the Brazilia and North-American uni verse o f football. This route has tried to keep attached to the development o f the social formation o f the Brazilian wornan, observing the different contexts, groups and social classes to which they belong. We have used some authors from the historiography such as Rago and Hobsbawn as well as authors which deal with relations of gender like Louro, Scott and Mouro among others. We have done a case-study ofthe extinct fema!e football team o f the Guarani Football Club which existed from 1983 to 1985, in the city o f Campinas in Sao Paulo.
