R and D program on electronuclear production of fissile material

The feasibility of using the 184 inch cyclotron at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory for plutonium 239 and uranium 233 production is investigated, and recommendations are made for research and development activities. Suggested efforts involve: (1) nuclear theory of the electronuclear process; (2) accelerator design and injector development, and (3) target and process design studies. (PMA)
