In the densely developed urban area, owing to the enormous amount of vehicular and pedestrian traffic, traffic congestion and safety problems are frequent phenomena and are always causing problems for traffic engineers/managers. Various different traffic management techniques are employed to tackle the problems with a view to improve the efficiency of traffic circulation. This paper outlines a few traffic management measures commonly used in Hong Kong and the effect of these measures on the general road users. (TRRL)
