Inventory management nowadays is becoming an important part of the operational areas in the world of companies. The reason is that a good inventory management can bring to the company an increase in operational and cost efficiency. In this thesis we focus our attention on improving the inventory management of five departments at Radboud hospital. These departments are involved in a new project that consists in centralizing their inventory management. The main objective of this research is to define a framework of inventory practices as well as to identify an inventory control system for the new centralized situation that improves cost-efficiency without compromising the health of patients. To address our study we first examine literature and guided by that, we perform a series of pilot experiments.
