TL;DRAbstract

This project is a study into what acoustic treatment and soundproofing are and how they can be applied effectively in a home studio. Secondary research methods are used to study the difference in requirements between acoustic treatment and soundproofing, types of treatments and in what circumstances they are used, differences in professional studio and home studio treatments, and other potential treatments such as Active Noise Control. Sound theory will be researched, consisting of the physics of sound and acoustic treatment with intent to apply these theories to how treatments work. Evaluation of soundproofing and acoustic treatment will be split into different sections due to the difference in requirements for the respective treatments. Soundproofing will cover how sound propagation can happen and how it can be solved using various soundproofing techniques.
