TL;DRAbstract

Synthesis of 2-chloro-1-propanol from propylene oxide (PO) by ring-opening reaction was studied, and the synthesized products were analyzed by GC-MS. The effects of several chief factors, such as reaction temperature, the feed-in ratio of PO versus hydrogen chloride, the dilution ratio of PO versus ether, reaction time and stirring speed, were investigated through orthogonal experiments, and the optimum process conditions were found. When controlling the reaction temperature at 65℃ and reacting for 7~9 h with n(PO):n(HC1)=1:2~1:4, and n(PO):n(ether)1:1, the conversion of PO can reach 73.98%, the selectivity of 2-chloro-l-propanol is 43.83% and the yield of 2-chloro-1-propanol reaches 32.43%.
