Abstract — Major Cloud computing companies have began to integrate frameworks for parallel data processing in their product portfolio, creating it simple for customers to access these services and to deploy their programs. However, the process frameworks that are presently used are designed for static, homogeneous cluster setups and disrespect the actual nature of a cloud. Consequently, the allotted compute resources could also be inadequate for large parts of the submitted job and unnecessarily increase processing time and cost.we discuss the opportunities and challenges for efficient parallel data processing in clouds and present our research Nephele. Nephele is the 1st data processing framework to expressly exploit the dynamic resource allocation offered by today’s IaaS clouds for each, task scheduling and execution.
