TL;DRAbstract

In this review, especially the hydrological condition of eastern, north-eastern Mediterranean and İskenderun Bay have been described under the light of oceanographic studies carried out in the region up to date. The reasons for immigration of Lessepsiyen species to the Mediterranean and their invasion routes have been explained. Reasons of a new Scyphomedusae (Rhopilema nomadica) bloom in İskenderun Bay and its possible effects on the regional fisheries and economy have also been discussed.
